Well, the little village I live in (around) has had no water for almost two weeks. they were working on the well pump (after it went off a week ago), and dropped 450 ft. of pipe down the well, blocking it. No water. The national guard has been bringing up a tanker truck (300 gallons) and parking it at the fire station, but with around 100 people living up in the area, it goes fast. I fill up 5 gallon buckets just to water the animals, flush toilets, clean up, and water just a few of my plants that I don't want to let go- veggies and flowers. Been taking laundry down to the city to wash, and showering at other peoples houses that have water in town. They are drilling a new well, but have been at it for 2 years....... Yes this is NM. Federal funding for the well only lets them drill 2 days out of the week from what I understand. We're trying to get the national guard to bring up a bigger tanker truck, but they're all being used for firefighters.... And they've been hauling up the water from the city- 2 hrs away. Thank goodness for my alpine lake- at least when the holiday tourists leave, Della and I go over there and swim and bathe! At least it's something.

It seems either we are having heat waves around the country or soggy cool PNW. I guess there is no happy medium?? Most of us have water... I read on another site about farmers practically giving away livestock as their ground is barren from the heat waves...no hay to feed their animals with and lack of water. |

I keep trying to make sense out of the drilling two days a week
![]() I am sorry for your water shortage. We are on a sistern for household use and still have a little water in the pond to water the garden. We will soon need to get water from our nearby municipal water source to put in the sistern. There's no rain in sight!

Wow! That is just nuts! I can't imagine! So, how deep do they need to go to hit water? How many people does the well serve? Who pays for it? This just sounds beyond belief for me. What about fire protection?

can't the people drill a well on their own land if they pay for it??? seems it would be worth it.. as for the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT what do you expect when you depend on them for ANYTHING..

The well serves about 150 people, and we pay for it. I don't know alot about the new well they are drilling that is supposed to be payed for by federal funding, but the annual water associations meeting is going to be in two weeks, and there are going to be alot of very angry people there. I know the national guard is doing their best to bring us water- and the two "kids" that were there hauling water for us were working their tails off ( I took them some tamale's and tea), but they have their hands tied about how much water they can haul......
