Martha Washington

This variety is the result of careful breeding by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Washington D.C. With the object of eliminating rust. It produces large straight shoots of a dark green color. The tips are tight and firm and do not open out or begin to branch until well out of the ground a very valuable feature.

New MAMMOTH

We believe this to be the most valuable sort in cultivation. For fine flavor productiveness enormous size for cutting the third year from seed or the second season from roots in this respect ahead of all others. The stalks are of enormous size very tender and delicious. It starts very early and its season of cutting continues to the very latest. Seeds 10c per pkt. Per oz 25c. Fine roots 75c per doz.

A wonderful variety from Japan. Always crisp and tender. This giant radish grows to enormous dimensions. Roots frequently grow 14 to 18 inches in length and 6 to 8 inches in diameter. The skin is pure white flesh firm and solid mild as an apple and superior to the most delicate Spring radishes thrives in any soil or location. It is as good to eat when in bloom as in younger days and the taste is more delicate than our American varieties always crisp and tender at the same time one of the greatest curiosities ever grown in the garden. Think of it this enormous radish on account of its mildness and excellent flavor can be sliced and eaten like an apple. Salsify is one of the most delicious and nutritious of vegetables and should be more generally cultivated for use in Winter when the supply of really good vegetables is limited. Very wholesome and nutritious. The roots are either boiled or mashed and made into delicious fritters. The New Mammoth is a truly American variety of the highest merit. It was originated by us and is the most popular variety grown. The long white tapering roots are of the most superior quality exceeding by far any variety now on the market. They grow uniformly to an extra large size averaging fully double the size and weight of roots of the old variety and notwithstanding their extra large size are always of fine quality and delicate in flavor resembling an oyster after cooked. Plant and care for it the same as parsnips. Nothing difficult or mysterious about it.
