Welcome to our forums! This online gardening community is different, political, and organic. I decided to start these forums so gardeners would have a free place to discuss heirloom gardening, gene-altered food, seed saving, natural politics and products. We are dedicated to saving our food and horticultural heritage, and hope you enjoy this forum for the free-thinking gardener! Wishing you great gardening, Jere Gettle |

Growing rare seeds and hope! slow selections of genetic traits in ourselves and crops, keeping that which shows promise and dumping the rest into the compost pile! |

Hello!. I live in the "Deep" South, way down in Louisiana. Not all the way down, but about 60 miles North of New Orleans, Louisiana. We have a very long growing season here. I am about to attempt to "square foot" garden for the first time, and I am so excited about it. I am even going to try "vertical" gardening with my cucumbers, Baby Cantaloupe, and midget watermelons (both red and yellow flesh). I have been reading about this on the net, and am anxious to give it a try. I will also be saving seed for the first time (my father always saved his seed) and I am using heirloom, open pollenated seeds. So, wish me luck.

Out in the West Texas town of El Paso. I'm back to gardening this year, on a steep learning curve in this forum, and will try square foot gardening. Just an average sized suburban lot, with LOTS of sun.

I live just outside of Washington DC in the Maryland suburbs were the deer outnumber people and love to eat anything that comes in small envelopes that you plant in the ground.
