Welcome to our forums! This online gardening community is different, political, and organic. I decided to start these forums so gardeners would have a free place to discuss heirloom gardening, gene-altered food, seed saving, natural politics and products. We are dedicated to saving our food and horticultural heritage, and hope you enjoy this forum for the free-thinking gardener! Wishing you great gardening, Jere Gettle |

Politics of Food is now Politics of Food.
We thank everyone for their hundreds of thousands of posts in POF, but about 90% of them were not about food. Let's get back to the topic, "Food". If it is not about food it does not belong in POF, I know this will come as a shock to many of our long term members, and for that we apologize, but our forum is not a place for talk about Bin Laden, hate and sex crime laws, the GOP, the Masons, the Mormons, the Muslims, and other non-food politics. We will now be deleting threads that start or end off-topic, at our judgment which may seem unfair at times. (We may also warn repeated offenders) If in question stay with "food" Thanks so much for posting. Sincerely AlaskaMan |

Kinda sad.. I will miss discussing politics with other growers, farmers and food advocates. Non food politics that is... I am aware of no other collection of growers where such topics are allowed. Its a shame imo. Oh well...
should make as many happy as much as it upsets others though! Probably put a few folks out of work to... |

ah buggers. I was thrilled when Jere introduced regular politics to here. Gave me a place to discuss politics with people I had gardening in common with.

Take care Dan, it's been fun
I for one am very happy with this rule change and I will be back posting food and farming political items as I have in the past.

Are you going to un-ban Little_Minnie and Uprooted Kentuckian? I know in LM's case she was complaining that the forum says Politics of Food but wasn't actually focused on that. A lot of people gave her a hard time for that opinion, but I think in light of this decision she should be allowed back.

If the concern is bloating the food politic forum with non-food related threads, perhaps a separate "general politics" forum would be appropriate?
If the concern is monitoring management and keeping up a professional company image then I don't see a better approach than the one they have proposed. |

All I can say is it is about time that the politics are removed and food become the main issue. After all food is why I joined this forum. If I had wanted to talk about politics I would have joined a political forum. Thanks!
