Opinions: What are the BEST TASTING cow peas?

I'm looking for heirloom cow peas to grow besides Purple Hull AND White Arce. However, I'm desiring a type that are very tasty. Any opinion would be appreciated

I was just wondering this as well. I'm thinking about ordering some from Native seeds but have no idea which ones taste the best.
I may order some from Baker Creek, they have a great selection. |

I can vouch for purple hull pink eye as very tasty, but there are lots more out there. I am trying 4 or 5 more this year.

My alltime favorite is Red Ripper
Second would be Pink Eye Purple Hull Both are large seeded and easy to shell and very delicious |

i think it depends on which cowpea and how you eat them. Some are good as fresh shellies, some better dried. Some go well with chicken [White Whipporwill, fresh or dried, being my favorite there] and some are better with beef or pork.

Well, after doing a little research and reading reviews, I have decided to go with White Whippoorwill, White Arce, Purple Hull and Pigott Family Heirloom Cowpea. I have actually never tasted any of them (as far as I know) except the Purple Hull. And it was excellent. I hope to get some that will be really impressive. My mom had cooked some white peas a long time ago and they made/left a giant impression on me. They were very tasty. I don't know the variety ; however, I think my mother referred to them as "cream peas". Who knows what type they were? Yet, I'm on the hunt to get them or some that are at least as tasty as those were. Anyone had any that were just unforgettable delicious?

Waco, "Zipper Cream" is fairly popular. I haven't tried it yet myself, but have heard others speak well of it. There are also "Texas Cream" peas.

My favorites are zipper and greeneye, although greeneye is only a so-so yielder for me.
zipper is very prolific. |
