I might take you up on that. I've got to get outside today and get what I can off that trellis so it can be taken apart and stored for the winter. I'm not sure if they would colour up after threshing, but I'll try that first and then let you know before the train begins if I need any. I'd need about 50 seeds if you can spare them. We got a LOT done in the garden on Sunday. I'm feeling much better about how things look outside and also the dwindling harvests of fresh vegetables. Now, I need to get busy threshing seed. I'm sure Toni's been busy with putting her garden to bed and also harvesting produce and seeds as I have. She'll be back. |

Ciao roper-
Yes, I do grow the Hyacinth Beans as ornamentals. I have the white in abundance, so if you'd like to try that one, I can set 50 seeds aside for you. We've used the immature pods in stir fries, but I'm not a huge fan of them as an edible. They're eaten quite often in India, I understand, and are poisonous if the beans are allowed to fill out the pods, so we've always made sure to only harvest very flat pods for eating. The flowers are quite fragrant and attract hummingbirds. I like to plant the Hyacinth Beans in with the Runner Beans and Romano Beans for some added colour. Thanks so much, roper. I really appreciate that. It was my intention to grow the purple out this year to replentish my supply, but it's been a very tough year overall and sometimes plans don't coincide with the weather. Just ask any farmer!

but I'll have to decline on that one for now. You are already holding some Insuk runner beans for me. |

knowing that the train was getting close to being ready to leave her station soon, she was making sure everyones mailing address's were up to date.....she always touches bases in this thread...and to not make a post for 4 weeks now really has me worried for her....
