did you read my article? there were two other firms that backed up Lancet's figures and added 'more numbers'...Hopkins U last year and a British outfit two months ago. i suppose anyone using the same numbers is bogus to you, right? Lancet has also done the Darfur figures in the same way and they have been accepted by the media and all...same techniques.

Bunkie, you didn't read what I posted. All you are giving me is rhetoric, not facts. Here is a simple fact about statistics. Lets say I want to calculate the number of gang deaths in the United States. For my study, I go to 2000 homes, the vast majority of which are in New Orleans, Detroit, LA and New York. Do you think I'll get real information back, or something completely skewed. The basic method they used to gather data was flawed, and then they refuse to allow anyone to see the full data. I'm surprised you skipped that part. I thought you didn't like it when folks manipulated data like that.

so you are saying all sampling including the US census is wrong. Okay. Now, UK do you have a degree in statistics or sociology? you seem to be such an expert on all this

Where I live, the census in the town and county is almost certainly wrong.
It has not increased noticeably in 50 years. It is almost a "wink, wink, nudge, nudge" situation.

The growth in building, the school census, etc strongly support that the census is off by 2-3 times.

It is said that by keeping the census low, we are able to avoid taking responsibility for certain expenses and improvements, and have the state
(and perhaps federal) government ante up.

The county census is also underreported.

I have heard figures that the actual census in the USA may be a hundred million more that the cited census.

While these figures are hard to prove, they may be closer to the truth than the official version.

Nope, never implied it. The data groups gathered by the Census Bureau, though not perfect, can't be compared to the biased extrapolations of the Lancet and similar studies. One doesn't have to be a statistical genius to understand some basic concepts.
