Ciao Emerald-
Good on you for such a generous offer! I'm sure you've helped lots of people improve their gardens greatly. Listen, I have a lot of things that do particularly well for smaller gardens and spaces (I have lots of friends who are apartment dwellers), so let me know if there's something new you'd like to try but didn't think you had the space for it. I even have corn that can be grown in a container. |

![]() So, my problem here is that if I plant a whole pack of anything, I won't have room for all the other things I want to grow too! Plus, there are just two of us here. We can eat only so much... one of these days I'll get more into canning but then there's the old space issue. So, for me, 6 tomato plants are actually more than I can use (it's what I planted last year) and a couple of eggplants are enough... one celery plant is enough since I can take off what I want bit by bit. Right now I have 6 cabbage plants in the ground but what are the two of us going to do with so much cabbage? My husband doesn't like sauerkraut. I suppose I could always just buy seedlings but I would miss out on the wonderful variety that I can get by starting my own seeds. So, I am left with almost-full seed packets in the end, and then the next year I want to try something new. It's a vicious cycle! So this is the best solution I could come up with. And I don't mind. I'm still saving money over buying seedlings this way, I'm sure. |

EmeraldSkye? Is all the stuff growing in your garden right now?
I am soooo jealous it is 12 degrees here with the wind chill it is -4 today...coldest day yet this winter...I actually have a turkey cooking in the oven...good comfort food on a bitterly cold day, and it helps heat that part of the house up warmer....although I don't freeze in my house in the winter...I am a wooooss, and keep the inside pretty warm!!!! Either give $$$ to the fuel man or the Dr....

It is all growing now! That photo was taken about a month ago. The plants are all still there (minus a few carrots) and are a bit bigger. They do grow slowly right now. Well, the greens do. The cabbage plants are quite large and the peas are loving life. Those were put in last September.

Yes ma'am, and thanks. I have more seeds than I thought and I'm putting the extras needing a good home in small ziplocs. I'll probably end up getting a thread going tomorrow.
I'm bagging seeds packed for both 2010 and 2011. Someone please advise if packed for 2010 seeds are still desireable. Tim |

EmeraldSkye. I like your vegetable beds. The wood frames look
really nice. |
