I said SOME seeds. Didn't mention any names. Funny you would jump to the conclusion that you are among those SOME!

It was however a leap for you to assume you know much of anything about my generosity, or compassion for my fellow humans. I believe in helping my fellow humans empower themselves. In fact i devoted my lifes work towards it. |

I'm not asking for a show of hands, but I wonder how many of those who wish to get into others pocketbook to pay for this, have donated themselves?
It's a rhetorical question and not directed at anyone. |

Wonder if this is the same argument used by the Rich Man when God asked him about Lazarus?

Cliff there is a free rider problem inherent in that sort of system. Some might choose not to pay for public schools but they would still benefit from having an educated population.

We have a hospital system that is overloaded trying to pay for uninsured patients because they cannot turn away someone who needs care. We have illegals and generational abusers of the medicare system bankrupting hospitals and clinics. Been to an ER lately? Lots of chronically ill people w/out insurance use ER's like Dr offices because they are open 24hrs. The charges for an individual to visit the ER for a broken finger is $630.00. Just the hospital fee, not the Dr. Oh, you don't have insurance we'll adjust your fee to $300.00, oh you do have insurance? Ins pays $130.00 period. WHAT? Yup. Why can't an uninsured just pay what the insurance co. does? At the time of service. (OOHH because it doesn't cover the true cost and it may put insurance companies out of business?? So who pays the real cost?) Our trip to the ER included a conversation with the secretary taking info- more than 60% of the people in the waiting room did not have insurance and
of those most did not have full time jobs. I would like to see people pay what they can afford. Medical care is a necessity. These Doctors are not all money hungry. Most will discount fees or accept ins pmt as full IF there is a need. Lets not beat them up. I saw an email--change the system by making the senators and representatives covered by the same policy as everyone else..definately food for thought. Have 12 hr clinics for pay per service fee for uninsured chronic illnesses...the debate continues. P.S I was uninsured for 4 months this year for the first time in my 60 years, it was scary and it was very expensive. |
