I'm sorry about my ignorance on this topic but I was at an auction today and struck up a coversation with a gentleman about gardening and he swore by the use of camphor as an insecticide in his garden especially on melons, squash, and cabbage. I know camphor is an oil but I've never known it to be an insecticide. He also said it was very safe. Has anyone used camphor? If so how is it used? At what rate? Is it effective? Thanks for any help you can give.

I supose it would work I use it as general use cure all but I guess I'll have to try it in the garden.

I plant camphor plants all over my garden. They are very prolific annuals. I don't know if they work as an insecticide..they didn't work on the evil squash bugs. But I'm sure the oil would be much more potent...
