I, uh, watered stuff. And looked at the seeds I need to plant outside... and told myself "maybe tomorrow". Stupid needing to do OTHER stuff sometimes. >.<

Mulched a lot as we already are behind on rain and replanted watermelons and cantelope as early season cold ground temps really hurt germination.

Filled up a bunch of newspaper cylinders with potting dirt, today I hope to plant in them:
gherkins ground cherry purple tomatillo loofah And yesterday I planted some Valiant tomato and Tiffen Mennonite tomato seeds, just a few, in newspaper cylinders. Also planted Fortex and Fire Tongue pole beans out in the garden.

I cant help myself. I was going to plant by the moon cycle but the 17th just seems so far off. its so nice here and my plants/seedlings are already hardened because I grow them out in the garage. This is probably why it takes longer to grow them. but they are healthy and I have been planting like a mad women.

I watered the lawn with the not-germinating-stupid-clover-seed (UGH!) ~ And loving this thread because I posted the day I put the seed out so I know it was 8 days ago and I have 2 more days for them to pop (on average) if they're going to. 7-10 days it says...
I'm debating going back to the garden center where I got the seed (even though I have no receipt for it) and complaining if nothing happens with it. Tell them how I treated it, and see if I can get a deal on more, or something. Clearly I don't totally suck at growing things, so why is this "easy to grow" stuff not working!? >.< |

planted 24 strawberry plants tuesday
on wensday i'll plant 16 purple crimson asparagus plants. on thursday i'll plant 24 yellow and red belle pepper plants. i have been spending most of my time mixing up my own formula of planting soil that go's in to the planting holes, it has a lot of the additives that i didn't put in to my home made soil inthe begining,,,it is sorta similar to train's concoction. it has a lot of rabbit poo in it,and greensand magnesium, lime, and some thing i don't know if it will work,,but i mixed in a bunch of D E in to it,to see if it will slow down the grubs that pop up every now and then,,,of course i always ad D E to the top uf the soil when i plant, i also added a lot of vermiculite, since i have had all these 20 lbs. bags laying around drawing moisture,,them bags wiegh around 100 lbs. now.

Brought in a couple loads of garden mix and filled these boxes for tomatoes. I'm thinking three each box, with marigolds, carrots and shallots around the edges. Still trying to figure out what to use for the trellis or support (someone must have ideas for me!)
