Welcome to our forums! This online gardening community is different, political, and organic. I decided to start these forums so gardeners would have a free place to discuss heirloom gardening, gene-altered food, seed saving, natural politics and products. We are dedicated to saving our food and horticultural heritage, and hope you enjoy this forum for the free-thinking gardener! Wishing you great gardening, Jere Gettle |

Finished getting all the rest of my pole seedlings in the garden. Cleaned the inside of the hoop house...now that most everything is now planted in the garden, it's getting pretty empty in there.....just 2 dozen hanging tomato plants, hanging peppers and eggplants__________and LOTS of space

I got an email from k-mart saying that I needed to cash in my rewards points or I'll lose them by today; I normally ignore that kind of stuff, not even sure why I got the card... then I remembered they have a garden shop!!!
![]() I bought about 4 Victoria Blue (Salvia farinacea) to keep the pollinators happy http://landscaping.about.com/od/flow...toria_blue.htm And about 8 Coleus(Solenostemon scutellarioides) to brighten up my shaded area http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solenos...cutellarioides I spent 56 cents

Finally, after several years, I have finished laying out ALL the beds and borders. Today was the last to be dug, amended, turned and bordered with garden ties--16 feet long and three feet wide on the west side of the backyard garage. I may someday do more in the front, it's not needed there, but it is very satisfying to complete the back. This has been in work for fifteen years with each year creating a few more beds and the last two years spent edging them with a pallot of ties. Hubs will latch this last set together for me with metal stripping and heavy screws--once they're joined they are not moving, it's finalized.
I still must finish planting the last set of tomatoes, some asparagus seedlings and a tray of impatiens, then after that I can sit back and rest for a while. Then let the weeding begin ;-) |

I tied up another tier of my tomatoes, then fertilized and watered the onions leeks and peppers. I've never grown leeks before, and its been awhile since i've grown onions, so I confess I mixed the two up, and buried the onions deep and the leeks shallow =). How are the leeks looking? Are they on schedule? Way behind?
