So my post in praise of kabocha on the heirloom gardening forum turned into a seed offer, so I thought I'd start a new thread here. I purchased the pumpkin from a store, so I'm not sure if it's a hybrid. We shall see! If anyone is interested in trying it out, PM me your address. Lots of rain here, so they may take awhile to dry. I plan on mailing them out next week. Also, let me know how many seeds you want. I must have about 100, but I only plan to keep 10.

I grew the Green Kabocha last year in my Uncle's garden. It is a very dense flesh with a small seed cavity. It takes about 80 days to mature here. The size is about perfect for the Kitchen, about 4 lbs. There is also an Orange Kabocha, but I only have seeds of the green one. Flavor wise it is much like Sweet Meat, but more manageable as a squash. Sweet Meat can get over 20 lbs and are very hard to cut open.
I think the flavor rivals a good Butternut. |

Hey! I haven't been to the forum in a while and was wondering if anyone had any luck with the kabocha seeds. I had to move and start my garden anew, so never had a chance to plant them.
Aloha, Kamalei
