Couldn't wait any longer so harvested the first of the red seeded Illinewek watermelon, I recieved the seeds from a retired anthropoligist from Illionois, she recieved the seeds from whom she stated was the last full blooded Illinewek indian in Illionois, she had held these seeds since 2008 so iwas worried they wouldn't grow. It does taste great. Well Here's proof:

Tracking down the line of accension, i am in contact with the son of the man who originally planted it, come to find out he got the seed from the usda seed bank in georgia in 2000, so i will be contacting them to send some back to the bank, and am in contact with sse.
