I am hoping any mechanically inclined persons can help me.
The height adjustment on my craftsman push mower does not work properly. When I adjust the front right wheel to a higher height, it will not stay in place when I cut. The piece of metal that goes into the hole is still okay, and it will stay in place until I move the mower around when cutting; then it slips back down. The whole thing feels loose, as it moves too freely when I handle it while trying to see what it wrong. I was hoping there is someone who could tell me if I might be able to fix it. Will I need a whole new height adjustment mechanism? Otherwise I will have to take it in to Sears, and they want a flat rate of 79.99 plus tax, as the warranty ran out about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately, that is almost half of the price of the purchase price. Thanks. |

I am not certain about the Craftsman mowers but can you bend the piece of metal that slips into the cutout or hole to make it stay? That is what we did on older mowers.

Why do you need the adjustment all the time ...? or do you ...? a foot of farm wire ( bailing wire ) wrapped around the adjustor on a Crasftsman style mower will hold it in place for years for about a penny ... you could shoot a self-tapping screw through the right position and be done quick as well.

Thank you for the responses. I'll get back with you after I try fixing it.
