Default China flexes muscles it has

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-0...aide-says.html

This is the sea that lies between the Philippines and Vietnam, and to the north east of Indonesia.

Interesting, as it would be difficult for another real power to claim it, and over half of the world's shipping passes through it in any given year. We have interests north of it, in the sea of Japan where South Korea is, due to our ties with Korea, but this bears watching.

you are not serious are you?

Half of all the world's ocean shipping goes through that area. How much of this world's food supply do you imagine is impacted potentially by this?

Do I need to say the word "food" in every post for you to be happy? This IS a post about the availablity of food and other goods to half of the world. I thought that was pretty obvious.

Almost every thing you buy in this country comes from China. You may have been excluding food. how are we supposed to know if you don't state it up front? John

So, is this how it's going to work out? Now we have something new to argue about?

I'm willing to give this some time to develop, but, I gotta say, if it runs like this, it looks like it might be disruptive.

Sorry. I take more of a "whole world" view of things, and am not so narrow in my thinking. Silly of me to assume others are the same way.

Their claims, combined with the amount of land they have locked up in africa for grains production, really could be like the stranglehold we put on Japan in regards to oil. And they have also locked up the lions share of world oil production for the foreseeable future as well. We are in the Sea of Japan (to the north) and have very close ties to both Japan and South Korea, but one could say that China, being THERE and having the Sea of Japan touching it's shores is in a better position to lay claims to it. We obviously extend our sphere of influence well beyond recognized international borders when it comes to the water around our country. What are we going to do if they take the same stance we have when it comes to the waters around theirs?
