2 main highways in North Carolina are still closed due to the ice 4 days ago, Highway 9 south of Black Mountain (less than 10 miles West of here) and Highway 276 between Brevard and Waynesville. I don't know how in the world we dodged that!
Looks like the ice just skirted the foothills and edge of the mountains in Brevard & Black Mountain where it seems to have been the worst.
Slept in Friday morning anf got up to rain.
No ice.
No complaining here.

There was a moderate coating of ice here last Friday morning, maybe 1/4" on elevated surfaces.

It looks like another big snow will fall here from tomorrow evening thru Friday.

By my definition, on the East side of the Blue Ridge, the Peidmont reaches up to about the 1,000' contour elevation line. The Foothills are from 1,000' to 2,000' with the mountains above 2,000'. Our place sits at 1600' just a couple of miles from a 3,000' tall mountain and within plain site of 6,000' peaks.

There as been some snow and sleet overnight.

Even with the bad winter weather, that sounds like a slice of heaven!
