Arrow Re: Mouse problem

Mice have suddenly invaded this house. Since I have a curious border collie who the last time got a sticky plastered to her read end, and foot--I have taken the sticky traps and secured them in shoe boxes. Battle royal trying to get it off her foot! I think I might have bagged one of these things in the latest trap I jury rigged.

My brother told me about an Ortho Home Defense Max Kill and Contain Mouse trap. Lowes has these. This would mean that I wouldn't ever have see its beady eyes, have my usual creeped out reaction to beady eyes and the fact that it is an obnoxious and disgusting mouse.

In our house the words humane and mice are not spoken in the same breath.
A pliers works well to get them off the trap, then you can reuse it.

My cats and dogs love mice. Kind of annoying really. You are so proud of them when they catch them, and then sudden dissapointment when they let them go and they scramble under the bookshelf in the living room.

Though I have found a yardstick swept underneath the bookshelf quickly puts the mouse back into play.

Game on <smile>

I too have the seasonal arrival of mice. Glue traps don't seem to work well with the little mice. They don't stick but eat the bait, plus I hate killing the poor little things. Poison is out. But I don't want my cats to eat them, cause they can get tapeworms. Battled that once, with 6 cats that can get expensive.

The best mousetrap I ever bought is one of the electronic ones. Not the kind that emit silent noise, the one that runs on batteries with metal plates inside. It cost $20 but it's killed 12 mice so far and I've replaced the batteries once. Just open the top, bait the trap with PB, little mouse runs in and zappo... mousie goes to heaven. The trap kills it for me.

I have a small house and only need one trap. Where the cats can't reach, like closed closets or behind the refrig, I put little cotton balls with peppermint oil on them. The mice don't like peppermint oil. I replace the cotton about every 6 months. So the only "safe" place is my utility closet ... where I put the trap

Happy mouse hunting !!

Yeah, fry the mousie! Ortho Home Defense is some new fangled trap that you can bait, never see the caught mouse, or have to touch it ever.
