I was a catcher with a wicked quick release and accuracy.
Played some 3B & SS also.
Loved throwing guys out.
At that time, when I took the mound it was "Here is my fastball. Guess where it is and hit it if you can." That didn't always work out though.
Loved it when my guys would complain about how hard I threw and how they could here the ball "Sizzling" as it approached................them days is long gone though.

I am going to tell ya something.. I scared myself... I was looking at my sheet that I made up when I planted my tomatoes the other day and I went out and looked and thought I lost all my Black Krim... well after walking around ticked off I realized the first row I had was my daylilies thats why they were not marked... I was so relieved I only lost two plants compared to a whole row...

Hang in Tweed, lot's of hours--stay focused, and don't get hurt.
SIL machinist, put in 70 hrs last wekk, and they keep calling him back--on ten hr shifts till further notice.

Surprised he hasn't been injured yet with the stuff they are working on.

Thanks, Ax.
I work in a dangerous machining environment also, making rear axles and housings for big rigs like Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, etc.
Also make medium duty axles and housings as well as miltary applications like the Mine Resistant axles.

Ladder kicked back on me one time away from the house--reacted and for about 20 seconds I was dancing about in the yard--I finally bailed out from about 10 ft up--and landed flat footed. The ladder hit me on the side of the head.

Good Morning , Holland.

How about both, in learned ways.--and I learned both from Jan, and the history of Holland and the struggles of same, including who I am talking to right now.

Happy is a rooster, Happy Birthday, because every morning he sings happy birthday to everyone, thus the name.

Tomaz-- the cat was a wanderer who I recognized as same, took care of him for a while and he went on his own quest of life.--

Ajla, I have to share this with you:

My Friend, Jan was rather irritated one day, and I asked why.
He and his wife were making a chair, by hand--

He was irritated because in polishing the legs with a piece of fabric and his Dutch description of the polish, his wife couldn't keep up.

I finally pieced it together, and found that you take fabric, put polish on it--one stands to each side and gets the rhytham going and the piece is hand polished.!

He told me several weeks later--"-----, I want you to see my chair"---It was a work of art!!!!

He told me several weeks later--"-----, I want you to see my chair"---It was a work of art!!!!

What a nice story! Thank you for sharing. I can just see them, one going faster than the other, it's not every one you can do that with. I saw logs in pairs, and with some people it's hard to synchronize!

Although many , many years ago I miss him.
Ironically he was a painter,(non-art) and I would pass by where he was working he would be humming a song, absolutey focused on what he was doing.I still use his painting methods today.
None of the others could outdo him in quanity and quality.

He fell ill, and I went to see him everyday--in his last days, and my last visit he held his hand out and said something in Dutch--although I didn't understand him I knew what he said--Thank You, for being my Friend.

I took up wooden ship building reading as a diversion once,--amazing-

The ones that struck my curiosity was Dutch design and structure in the 1500's.

Hmmmm--guess I was born to late, or, am I getting old after 612 yrs now---;):)

I'll see what I can find, but first it's supper time!
How is the storm effecting the oil spill?

It came over the Yucatan, wind speed decreased, but picking up.
With the counter rotation I expect much oil being spilled on S.Texas and Mexico.

The outer fringes of the storm will wash some oil West of my coast, but in the process it will sweep more in to the Gulf States.

Thanks, Ajla---Ax.

Ajla I have figured out how part of a Dutch windmill works--beyond air blowing on the sails.

When I finish I will try to find schematics and see how close I got--

I noticed the U.S has accepted help from other countries, when I go to the Gulf, I will look up a Dutch ship,--maybe my old Friend, Jan, will be there in re-incarnation!

We will certainly learn lessons from experts in Sea and Sand.

I'm glad you're still playing with the windmill, since ships are harder to come by! Only thing so far is replica building? It's hot and dry, but I went for a nice ride on my bicycle, even if it was to the dentist's!

It's too hot to even think! I'm going to water the garden (and myself!)
I keep expecting that other kitchen to appear, another Vermeer most likely, you know which one I mean?

It's cooled down a bit, but not enough. I have to water this evening. No rain in sight.
I think my watermelon vines are growing to slow to ever make anything. Same with the pumpkins. Nothing on them but a few blooms. bummer.

Click on historie, and then there are more?
Say if you need help? Enjoy!
It would easily fit in your back yard?

It's 95 here today, we'll get a storm!

Off to the library and market first!

Well, I didn't feel too great today and had a headache on the right side of my temple. Getting better.
Ax, you are so not expendable!!
Going back to my baking soda and vinegar for cleaning bathrooms!!
Isn't it odd that things like this happen when we are not at our best? I've noticed that. I've had kind of a bad week due to some decisions that had to be made that I am not entirely in agreement with. I'll get over it, but a bit upset now. I need to change my focus to the things that I am thankful for and not the one thing that is upsetting me.
