True Ax the coachman visits most every thread here from time to time. Never know when the highwayman will appear.

Reminds me I always liked Willie Nelsons highwayman.

They're still used for water and flour but not for oil any longer (or bloomers)

Ajla: Good Morning and you are just the one to answer my question. What do or did they use all of the windmills in the Netherlands for?

I know here in the plains and out west they were often used to pump water to fill stock tanks. And a few were used to mill grain although most gristmills here were water powered.
