Welcome to our forums!
This online gardening community is different, political, and organic. I decided to start these forums so gardeners would have a free place to discuss heirloom gardening, gene-altered food, seed saving, natural politics and products. We are dedicated to saving our food and horticultural heritage, and hope you enjoy this forum for the free-thinking gardener!
Wishing you great gardening,

Tell me what zone five means.
Most of my grapes are hybrids with Midwest parentage.
Elmer Swenson did his work in Osceola Wisconsin, and so the parentage of many of my grapes is probably fairly tough, but not really 'tested' here.
Hey Jackie-T: Hope you remember this - you sent me some Egyptian walking onions back in the spring and also sent along some little packets of seed one of which was butternut squash. Well I planted a few of them and they now have squash which are light green and white striped. Sorry to be dumb but are they supposed to be striped - only ones I have every grown are kind of orange/brown you know the ones I mean. Also just dug my garlic so if you want some cloves let me know - it is german hardneck. thanks for the help.
Thanks for spelling it out for me, Jackie-T. We have plenty of fox and wandering cats here. But I'm most concerned about our Lab that, despite her old age, is always looking for a meal. Sounds like you've found ways to minimize critter and pet issues. I'll have to give them a try...if I can catch a few fish.
Saw your post in the thread about subsitutes for Miracle grow and have a couple of questions about using blended fish remains. How much do you dilute it? How do you apply it? Any critter or pet problems? I use bottled fish emulsion on occasion, but might want to give local white perch remains a try.
Hi Jackie - hope the weather is improving for you...I was wondering if you could help me with something? I am needing to know how big the birdhouse gourd and big apple gourd get. I REALLY want to plant them and just need to figure how much room to set aside. I know the probably get pretty good sized - just HOW big, I don't know. Thanks, Marci
