I have some calendula, 2 kinds of carrot and flat parsley seed to trade. I'm interested in the basil and oregano seeds and a few marigold. What kind of basil and oregano do you have? Thanks

Hey, I guess I didn't do this right the first time..

I'm just south of Baltimore, but I have a lot of friends in the DC area, especially Greenbelt and Bowie. I also know a few folks in the Cumberland area, which I assume is a lot closer to you..

I can well meaning mother this year bought my 4 year old son a miracle grow vegetable is a plastic bowl with a globe that comes with an expandable grow mix medium to start the seeds in. I didnt know weather to cry or husband talked me into not saying anything to her because she was "trying" I had a hard time explaining why my garden soil didnt look like that or expand when you mixed it with a little water, and why we needed special container when mom reuses things to plant seeds in. I was frustrated...and wont be letting him eat off them.

Kyser is in Mineral county, right? Beautiful area thru there. I used to drive that direction when I went to school at Shepherd. Nice to "meet" you too, and welcome to the boards.

Which part of WV are you from? There's just a small handful of regulars from WV on the boards. Myself, Mook and a fella that goes by mjc, who hasn't been on in quite a while. I'm in putnam county (between charleston and huntington). Good to see another mountaineer

Exactly! It's good to have fresh, tasty food and all, but it's just not the same if you don't find any joy in the growing of it. My husband teases me for the various things I have going in the kitchen window at any given point. Usually silly little things, beans or herb cuttings or seeds from fruit. I want to try a lemon tree next time I get any seeds from making lemonade. Hydrangeas sound lovely! I got one last year for mother's day "from my son" (who was seven months old at the time, hence the quotes) last year, but I was still working crazy hours at the time and didn't get it planted until too late. I'm going to try to take cuttings somewhere and replace it, though it won't be the same, I guess. Oh well--that's life, right?

It was so nice to hear from you...thanks! I haven't done random things in a while but last year...with all my other planting and propagating projects..well I couldn't help myself...The avocado trees won't make it outside here but I will just have trees in my house..they are really pretty. I have friends that want some. I have to find room for the Red Jerusalem artichokes as my beds are full already..can you imagine the height of them? I don't dare plant them outside yet anyway...maybe in the nettle bed. The single raspberry cane was in with my chocolate mint tea plants I sell on a different I had brought that huge pot in...My kitchen looks funny with a huge pot there with the large can and all the baby runners it sent out..a mass of leaves......hubby doesn't mind though. Wish it would warm up. I lined my shelves in my bedroom with the hydrangea cuttings I took yesterday....why not have some fun with our plants?
