Knowing the scripture is important....but knowing it's author much more. Some know the book quite well, can quote it 7 ways from thursday, but are mostly clueless about the author. To know Him well...there is no substitute for spending much time with him. When Paul said "That I might know him", the word used for know implies the most personal intimate knowledge. Not to know about. I think this is where Mr Sullivan goes astray.

I don't think I could say it better myself! It's hard to not want to be 'right' all the time (I know I struggle with it, although I'm always right--just ask my husband). I know I fall short in that area. I hope I'm not a bad advertisement of Christianity! I'm trying to learn how to be a better witness. My plan though is to not really post much any more on the Loving Exposure thread. It seems futile, plus I'm not as knowledgable as I probably should be when in this type of discussion. As Mr. Sullivan pointed out, I have much to learn

I have talked to Mr Sullivan at some length. As I'm prone to say "God has left us here on a rescue mission". Our fight is not against flesh and blood but rather against powers, principalities and wickedness in high places. Mens minds are darkened and they are unable to comprehend the truth. Our job is to show them their need of a savior. The Holy Spirits job is to convince them of sin, righteousness, and judgment. That is something we can't do. Our job is not to be right, but rather show what Christ is like through our lives. Unfortunately, sometimes the worse advertisement for Christianity has been some Christians. That should never be the case. It's good to talk to others about God, but it's our great honor to talk to God about people. Without bathing everything we do in prayer, it's for nothing. We should pray for every person in these forums that God would bring someone across their path lead them to a saving knowledge of Christ. Maybe this tells you a bit more about me.
