Well I did find out that Argonaut does ripen buff. I had given some seeds to redneckplanter and he thinks this pic might be a green striped Cushaw instead. Do you have an opinion? You are the only one I know of who has any practical experience with this variety.

If I may pick your brain, I did a search on Argonaut squash and you had a post that indicated you have some experience with it. Does this particular one turn buff when ripe? Do they typically set many fruit like a butternut? I am currently growing 2 vines. The larger one has 1 large fruit growing and the other has not set a fruit yet. I have found very little info googling Argonaut. Here is a picture of the fruit currently growing:



I think you also answered another question I had. Are all white-flowered squash vines in effect gourds? I had a volunteer grow quite vigorously this year, and the fruits look kind of like baby butternuts, but none are growing beyond an inch before withering, and the flowers are white and fragile. I was considering pulling it and will if it is a gourd.

If you could give me some insight to the Argonaut, I would greatly appreciate it.

well denn the nitrogen may have helped?
i can say the pile is now flat and is about a foot and a half deep out there and still going..
may end up with 10 inches of pure compost over the 50 by 60 area to till in soon....lol

hello: i had a longer reply to the compost heat post of your's but the server was busy and i lost the message. with some creativity it should work and i'm gonna try. nace in kentucky.
