That boyscout thread has been on my mind a lot of late. People keep saying that being gay is against the "word of God". Forgive me, but being pagan I'm not good with the bible quotes. Is gay being bad from an actual quote from the bible or the teachings of christ or is it just something a preacher said? I mean no offence at all, but I just don't ever remember anyone being able to show me a direct quote from the bible about it.

My mum said something about how that was the reason soddom and gamora (sp) were wipped out. Was it the gay thing or because the people had the morals of bunnies in season?

Leviticus 20:13 in the Old testament says:
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
No Jesus never spoke on homosexuality that I recall but not everything changed when Jesus came. The Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomora because the people were very immortal and sinful including practicing homesexulity. It was done more than just homesexulity.

Romans Chapter one is another scripture on homosexuality. There are others, and I will look them up for you.

Also, when God sent angels (which were men) to Lot to warn him that he was going to destroy the cities, the men in the cities went to Lot's house and demanded that Lot turn the men over to then so they could have their way with them. Lot offered them his daughters, but they refused because they desired the men.

I seam to rember that in the roman's were also praticing homesexuality this is not from the bible Werecat but from history.. to be honest and frank as a Pagan who became Pagan after being Catholic and Southern Baptis (sp) and leaving what is considered organized and praticing the Old Religon.. some were in Mathew it states a man was to leave his mother and take a wife.. that quote hac ben use on more then one time that i can rember.. The Pencoastal Church Carlton was raised the believers there have given birth to a few guy men .. they refuse to see what right in front of them . that reminds me of another passage that would suite that church .. it goie something like befor you remove the splenter from your neighbors eye you must first take the post out of your eye. they fail to pratic what they preach (sp) that is why i am happy as a Soulatary Witch enjoying being Pagan.. to many Judges and there is a nother passage reminder Judge not least you be Judged

my post was to long so i will add on here i have a questions to .. The Bible was coppied how many years ago , were the ones who coppied the Bible learned in antiquantic language.. Why couldn't the Bible be rewritten by schoulars who are learened in the antique langusges.. After there are the dead sea scrolls that were not entered in the Bible.. Or the Rozeta Stone and they exist for a reason .. I would tend to more believe the Bible if it were re written by more learned people....not some one a pope had control over or a king

If you do not believe the Bible, then it should not matter what it says. If you do not believe it and practice it, then why would you quote it. I believe what I believe by faith. This is my belief, and no one can take it away from me, just as your belief is yours, and no one can take it from you. If you are asking this question because you truly want to know, then that is one thing. I am not offended when people question the Bible. It is human nature to do so, especially for a non believer.

What I have a problem with are those who only want to argue points. I do not argue, nor dispute over God's Word. I can try to answer a question as honestly as I know how. This is what I am doing now. I will have to do it in sections, because it will be too much for one post.

In Romans 1:18-32 (verses 24-27 are the key verses) If you truly want to understand, you need to study the scriptures and even history of the time. You can also look up on line a concordance, that will help you understand the meaning of words, etc. (vile affections: women changed the natural use (of their bodies) into that which is against nature. Likewise, the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men, doing that which is unseemly. receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

In I Corinthians 6:9-10
A warning against immoral laxity and acts. effeminates: those who allow themselves to be used unnaturally. abusers of themselves: active homosexuals
This warning was given against a background of incest, homosexuality, pederasty, and other unnatural sexual vices which were prevalent among the Greeks and the Romans.

Jude 1:7 Sodom and Gomorrha and the cities around them were filled with such unnatural sexual activities, going after strange flesh and God set them forth as an example, suffering the vengence of eternal fire.

Jude 1:8-10 "filthy dreamers": defile the flesh and speak evil of dignities (angels, and also could mean the leaders of the church) They speak evil of things they know nothing about, but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

These are the scriptures I looked up today. I hope they will help you to better understand. I am not giving my own opinion, but scriptures from the King James Version of the Bible.

Nope, that is what I was "looking" for. I am very glad it isn't my job to be life judge. I don't know how I would react to a man that offered his daughters to what I would interpret to be a rape gang to save angels. I wouldn't offer an angel up, but I certainly wouldnt offer my daughters to a rape gang either. (referring to the story of lott quoted above)

I can understand a bit better the reasoning and basis for the point of view. I still don't agree with it, but at least I have a bit better understanding of it.
